Archicraft completed this extension to a nursing home in London. The new ground floor addition comprising of a new lounge is integrated at the centre and to the rear of the original building. With views into an internal courtyard enhanced and connection with the outside gardens improved, residents benefit from a greatly enlarged facility which can now offer an augmented program of activities in the now, more flexible space. Access is improved to both the new and the old, also providing a smooth easy transition to the outside, where residents can sit beneath a cedar clad solar screen in the heat of the day. Internally the main ceiling is raised to allow diffused light at high-level and rapid ventilation through electrically operated windows.
